🌍 From Science to Sustainability
I am a genomics consultant with over eight years of experience working with startups. My journey has always been about solving real-world problems, but I never imagined that my next venture would take me beyond genetics—into the world of fashion and sustainability.
MODASOU was not just an idea; it was born from a series of eye-opening moments that made me question the way we consume fashion.
In 2015, I visited Hogenakkal Falls, a breathtaking place where the Kaveri River creates a mesmerizing smoky effect as it gathers speed. It was supposed to be a serene escape, but what I saw that day haunted me for years.
Instead of just enjoying the beauty of the falls, my eyes were drawn to piles of discarded clothes scattered all around. As I walked a little further, I saw trucks being loaded with these used clothes—left behind by people after bathing in the river.
I thought about recycling—but that wouldn’t solve the core issue. Burning them into ashes? That’s just another temporary fix. The real problem lies deeper—it's not just about waste management, it’s about people’s mindset.
This question stayed with me for a decade. I kept asking myself:
And that’s when I realized—we don’t just need a solution for fashion waste;
we need a movement to change how people think about fashion itself.
This thought planted the seed for MODASOU—a way to bring back
customization, longevity, and sustainability to fashion.
